At NextBillion.ai, 2026 began with a clear focus on execution. As outlined in our previous update, this quarter has been dedicated to improving efficiency across our platform to let our customers scale seamlessly and operate with greater precision.
This quarterly update reflects progress across every layer of our platform, from route planning and analytics to new product launches and developer capabilities. Each update is designed to bring more control, flexibility, and performance to your operations.
We focused on making our platform more intelligent, flexible, and aligned with real-world operational complexity. From launching new APIs to enhancing route optimization and improving usability within the NextBillion Cloud Console (NCC), every update is designed to help teams plan better, move faster, and optimize at scale.
Here’s a quick look at how we hit the ground running in Q1.
Route Planner Updates
The NextBillion.ai Route Planner Application has been significantly enhanced to orchestrate a more seamless and powerful planning experience. With improvements across usability, visualization, and optimization controls, teams can now manage complex routing scenarios with quick ease and precision.
Route Analytics
To offer deeper visibility into route performance, we have introduced a dedicated analytics layer within the Route Planner. This enables stakeholders to clearly understand how each route has performed and identify areas for improvement. Users can now access key metrics such as total stops, total routes, and overall duration for every solution, making it easier to evaluate efficiency and drive faster, data-informed decisions.
New Advanced Constraints
With the addition of advanced constraints in the Route Planner, users can now create more realistic and customizable route plans, achieving full feature parity with our APIs. By defining limits such as maximum stops per vehicle and maximum working time, teams can ensure operational feasibility and compliance.
Enhancements like deadhead distance and duration penalties help minimize empty travel, while sequence order preferences provide greater control over task execution. We have also introduced outsourcing cost, enabling the optimizer to intelligently decide whether a task should be completed in-house or outsourced based on cost efficiency, adding a strategic layer to route planning.
Timeline View
The new Timeline View provides a visual representation of each vehicle’s journey across a time-based layout. With clear visibility into trip start and end times, along with stop-level details, teams can quickly identify scheduling overlaps, delays, and inefficiencies ,improving overall time management.
Saved Solutions
Users can now save optimized route plans directly within the Route Planner. This makes it easy to revisit and reuse previous solutions, especially for recurring operations. This helps in saving time and ensuring consistency in planning.
Route Optimization API – New Constraints
The Route Optimization API has been enhanced with new capabilities to more accurately model real-world constraints and optimize performance:
- Deadhead Distance & Duration Limits: Control the amount of empty travel (first and last legs of trips), helping reduce unnecessary mileage and improve revenue per trip.
- Minimum Stop Load: Ensure vehicles are assigned tasks that match their capacity, avoiding inefficient allocations (e.g., heavy vehicles handling very small loads).
- Depot Throughput Constraints: Model real-world depot limitations by defining how many vehicles can be handled simultaneously and at what rate, reducing bottlenecks and wait times.
- Soft Constraints with Penalties: Previously hard constraints like activity waiting time, task lateness, and vehicle overtime are now treated as soft constraints. This allows tasks to still be completed, with penalties applied, ensuring more practical and optimized solutions.
- Webhook for Re-optimization: Users can now receive real-time notifications via webhooks when optimization jobs are completed, especially useful for large-scale operations.
- Extended Solution Storage: Optimized solutions are now stored for up to 180 days, allowing greater flexibility in retrieval and analysis.
Partners Dashboard Launch
We have launched Partner Accounts, enabling partners to manage customer access, billing, and operations more efficiently from a single interface.
Partners now get centralized access to all customer accounts linked to their organization, along with visibility into billing information. With full read-write access to customer data, partners can manage operations, provide support, and drive value more efficiently from a single interface.
Weather API – New Product Launch
The team is excited to launch the Weather API, bringing real-time and predictive weather intelligence directly into your applications.
With this API, teams can factor weather conditions into route planning, adjust ETAs dynamically, and identify weather-impacted roads or regions. This enables more proactive decision-making and helps reduce disruptions caused by unpredictable weather.

Other Important Updates
Routing APIs
The Directions API now includes enhanced toll information, returning toll names and locations along with existing cost and distance data, providing more transparency and better route cost estimation. Read here for more details.
Mobile SDKs
Security just got stronger for our Mobile SDKs. API keys can now be restricted to specific SDK usage, ensuring that even if a key is exposed, it cannot be misused outside its intended environment.
Places APIs
We now support geopolitical views across Places APIs, including geocoding and place lookup. This allows responses to reflect region-specific perspectives in politically sensitive or disputed areas, ensuring compliance and contextual accuracy.
New Tutorials & Demo Videos
We have rolled out new API tutorials and demo videos to help you get up and running faster while unlocking advanced use cases. You can explore the industry specific tutorials here and can watch demo videos here.
Q2 Product Roadmap
Looking ahead, our focus remains on pushing the boundaries of intelligent routing and location intelligence, making our platform smarter, faster, and more adaptable to real-world complexity.
In the coming quarter, you can expect deeper AI-driven optimizations that further improve route accuracy and decision-making at scale. We are also enhancing real-time capabilities to enable more dynamic adjustments based on live conditions, helping teams respond faster to disruptions.
On the developer front, the team will be continuing to refine the experience across our APIs and SDKs with better usability, improved documentation, and faster integrations. At the same time, we are also investing heavily in scalability and enterprise readiness, ensuring the platform can seamlessly support larger fleets, higher volumes, and more complex operational scenarios.
At the core, our goal is to empower you with a smarter, more reliable, and scalable platform that helps you plan better, optimize faster, and grow with confidence.
